National Jamboree Iceland 2008

On the jamboree logo there are three items: three swords, three waves, and the symbols of the scouting and guiding movement. The three swords characterize the vikings. In the logo the swords have been stuck into the ground, thus symbolizing peace. The three figures remind us of the three pledges in the Scout Promise and the erected swords also remind us of the three fingers we hold up when we salute. The waves are also three and symbolize the ocean which surrounds Iceland and the vikings used to sail their ships on in order to move between countries. The scouting and guiding symbols need no explanation and the colours blue, red and white are the colours in the Icelandic national flag.
