The Essex International Jamboree 2008 is being held from Saturday 26th July to Saturday 2nd August 2008.
The camp will be held at Devereux Farm just outside of Kirby-Le-Soken in the North-East corner of Essex, which is in the South-East of England.
At the campsite there will be a market square which will offer cafes, shops, bank, post office and telephones and a medical centre. There will be no facilities for recharging mobile phones.
All groups must bring their own equipment. There will be no indoor accomodation and participants are expected to camp under canvas.
Cooking can only be done on portable stoves. No wood fires or barbecues are allowed. Bottled gas will be available to buy on site.
Heavy equipment can be sent to the camp earlier by arrangement at the participants expense. Generators are not permissible and there will be no electricity generally available.
Toilets are provided but each group should provide their own washing facilities. There will be limited shower services. Participants should bring their own personal camping equipment to suit all weathers. Facilities will be available for members with special needs.Overseas participants may be able to borrow camping equipment or arrange to stay for longer in the area.
The typical climate for July and August is warm and sunny, but it can be rainy and chilly so proper rainwear and warm clothes are also needed. The day temperature is usually between 18 – 25oC.
The camp fee for Young People or Leaders wishing to take part in the full range of activities is £125 per person.
A reduced fee of £50 is available to adult leaders not wishing to take part on any activities.
A reduced fee of £20 is available to Leaders of participating groups who are also willing to take on a suitable staff role during the event

Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, India, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Tanzania, Netherlands, Uganda, USA and Zimbabwe.
